Introduction

What is EJU?
The Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students (EJU) is a standardized test designed to assess the Japanese language proficiency and basic academic skills of international students who wish to study at universities in Japan. It is administered by the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO).

Purpose and Significance
The EJU aims to evaluate the academic abilities required for international students to undertake undergraduate courses at Japanese universities. The results are used by universities as part of their admissions process.

Overview of the Exam Structure
The EJU is held twice a year, in June and November, at various locations in Japan and overseas. The exam covers four subjects:

Japanese as a Foreign Language
Science (Physics, Chemistry, and Biology)
Japan and the World
Mathematics

Eligibility and Registration

Who Can Take the EJU?
The EJU is open to non-Japanese nationals who wish to study at Japanese universities as undergraduate students. There is no age limit for taking the exam.

Registration Process

Create an Account: Register on the JASSO website to create an account.
Fill Out the Application Form: Complete the online application form with your personal details and choose your exam subjects and location.
Submit Required Documents: Upload any required documents, such as identification.
Pay the Examination Fee: Pay the exam fee using the methods specified by JASSO.
Receive the Examination Voucher: After registration, you will receive an examination voucher, which you need to bring to the exam center on the test day. Important Dates and Deadlines

Exam Structure and Subjects
Subjects Offered

Japanese as a Foreign Language

Focuses on reading, listening, and writing skills.
Sections: Listening, Listening-Reading, and Reading-Writing.

Science

Choose any two from Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
Tests basic concepts and problem-solving skills.

Japan and the World

Covers topics in politics, economics, society, and history.
Focus on understanding contemporary Japan and the world from a social science perspective.

Mathematics

Two levels: Course 1 (basic) and Course 2 (advanced).
Course 1 is for humanities and social sciences courses; Course 2 is for science and engineering courses.

Choice of Subjects Based on University Requirements
Different universities and courses have specific subject requirements. It is crucial to check the admission guidelines of each university to select the appropriate subjects for the EJU.
