경희한국어 초급1 듣고 말하기
Kyung Hee University Institute of International Education(IIE) has strived to help learners learn Korean language and culture in a fun way since it launched its Korean language curriculum in 1993. IIE and Kyung Hee University Press previously collaborated on Korean: Exploring Korean and Korean: Exploring Korean Workbook. We are publishing a new version of Kyung Hee Korean, updated based on our recent teaching and learning experiences.
IIE is publishing seven companion volumes: Kyung Hee Korean ‘First Step’, ‘Beginner 1 Grammar’, ‘Beginner 1 Listening and Speaking’, ‘Beginner 2 Reading and Writing’, ‘Beginner 2 Grammar’, ‘Beginner 2 Listening and Speaking’, and ‘Beginner 2 Reading and Writing.’ This separation of the systematic learning of essential grammatical features from other language skills is in line with functional approaches to learning.
The first volume, First Step, is aimed at quickly equipping new learners with a solid understanding of Korean consonants, vowels, and syllable structures.
The Grammar volumes contain the grammatical structures that learners should acquire at each of the two beginning levels. Exercise questions and assignments are provided to help them understand the target structures and their functions, and realistic scenarios are also provided to enable them to practice speaking using such structures.
In the Listening and Speaking volume, the listening and speaking activities are closely connected with the topics of the speaking activities being the content acquired through listening. Depending on the precise topic, these two skills can be given equal weight, or one can be emphasized more. Various realistic situations are provided to help learners apply their understanding, and they are accompanied by video clips that have been designed to deepen such understanding.
The Reading and Writing volume integrates the two skills organically. Appropriate reading materials are provided to help readers achieve the general goal of Korean literary development.
IIE has also developed a series of online Korean lectures in collaboration with Kyung Hee Cyber University, aimed at facilitating learners’ independent study of Korean, and especially the development of their accuracy and fluency. Additionally, the Institute offers systematic and efficient mobile-based LMS to help learners go beyond passive learning and become active and passionate learners.
Lastly, we would like to thank Kyung Hee Korean editorial board and Kyung Hee University Press faculty and staff. Without their dedication at all stages of the development and publication process, this textbook would not have come to fruition. 경희한국어 초급1은 한국어를 처음 배우는 성인 학습자를 위해 한국어 교재 6단계 중 첫 번째 단계에 해당되는 교재이다.
이 책은 경희한국어 초급1 듣고 말하기 교재 초급1단계에서 반드시 알아야 할 주제들의 상황을 중심으로 구성하며, 학습자의 의사소통 능력을 향상하기 위하여 실제적인 다양한 연습과 활동을 배치하였다. 또한 한국어뿐만 아니라 한국의 태도와 문화를 생생하게 배울 수 있도록 QR코드로 MP3와 실제 동영상을 제공하며, 이 책을 통해 학습자는 한국에서 생활하는 데 필요한 기본적인 한국어 구어를 익힐 수 있으며 한국어 기반 의사소통 능력을 갖출 수 있다.

- 이 교재는 외국어로서 한국어에 적용되어야 하는 말하기 및 듣기 상황을 중심으로 한 8개의 단위로 구성되어 있다.
- 각 단위는 듣기와 말하기 연속으로 과제 내용에 따라 듣기와 말하기의 비중이 다르게 구성되어 있다.
- 4개의 단위는 총 8개의 파트로 구분되어 있으며, 각 파트는 단어, 어휘, 듣기, 말하기, 역할극, 퀴즈, 칭찬, 확인 등으로 구성되어 있다.
- 연관된 명사의 순서는 듣기, 듣기 활동, 듣기 말하기, 듣기, 말하기, 역할극, 칭찬, 확인 등으로 구성되어 있다.
- 본문 듣기의 대화는 주로 일상생활을 중심으로 구성되었으며, 듣고 말하기 능력의 향상을 위해 수록되었다.
- 본문 듣기의 학습자의 부단한 이해를 돕기 위해 해당 텍스트의 긴 이야기와 짧은 이야기의 내용을 조절하여 듣기 연습을 제시하였다.
- 본문 듣기를 위해 필요한 모든 상황과 말하기 활동을 통해 학습자가 어휘를 교재에 제시된 내용에 따라 습득하도록 한다.
- 본문 말하기는 실제적인 그림과 함께 제시되며, 학습자가 효과적인 그림과 함께 쉽게 말하기 능력을 향상시킬 수 있도록 구성되었다.

경희한국어 초급1 듣고 말하기
Kyung Hee Korean Beginner 1 is the first of six levels of Korean textbooks for adult learners who want to learn Korean. This book is composed of Kyung Hee Korean Beginner 1 Listening and Speaking texts, which focus on the topics and situations that learners should know in the first stage and practical and varied exercises and activities were arranged to improve learners’ communication skills. In addition, in order to vividly learn Korean attitudes and cultures as well as Korean, through QR codes MP3 and real conversation videos are provided. Through this book, learners can learn the basic Korean spoken language necessary to live in Korea and have the ability to communicate in Korean.
Main Characteristics of the Textbook
- This textbook includes 9 units which are based on situations where foreigners who come to Korea have to know and speak while adapting.
- Each unit is composed so that listening and speaking can be continued, and the weight of listening and speaking is composed differently according to the contents of the unit.
- A unit is divided into two sections. The unit consists of the unit’s title, lesson text, basic vocabulary, listening and speaking.
- The units are ordered and arranged as follows: Listening Introduction, Pre-Listening Vocabulary Activities, Pre-Listening Activities, Listening, Post-Listening Activities, Speaking Introduction, Pre-Speaking Activities, Speaking, Pronunciation & Intonation, Useful Expressions, Vocabulary & Expressions and Self-Check.
- The listening dialogue was designed around the daily life that the main characters of the textbook experience in Korea. The video was taken so that you can see not only Korean but also natural movements and animations.
- In order to minimize the burden on the learners, the length of the text was adjusted from short conversations to long conversations. In the after listening activity, learners become characters and fill in the gaps so that they can speak and practice speaking.
- The pre-speaking activities of Example focusing on the sentence and vocabulary, which are the core of everyday speech, and are underlined so that learners can practice by changing their vocabulary.
- Spoken text is designed to enable learners to communicate through realistic illustrations and so they can be seen, the key-words for speaking are well organized in the illustrations. In addition, in Spoken Text Example, the vocabulary to be replaced is highlighted so that the learner can try various expressions.
